Once we got the mast hung up on the dock and out of the way… we started the process of clearing out years of waterlogged crap out of Uffda. It wasn’t pretty.  Among the treasures we found: Some plastic champagne glasses and a really rusty toolbox.

It wasn’t long and we had quite a pile of “treasure” on the dock!  I stayed in the boat most of the day ripping stuff out while Ryan handled logistics on the dock… Figuring out what to keep and what to throw… bagging and tying.  As they say in the north country: ISH.

Al and Eileen came over the day after Christmas to help christen Uffda with a bottle of champagne.  Al had already spent some quality time with Uffda the day they brought the sailboat across Lake Lanier. It was a classy get together with green solo cups left over from our wedding reception four years ago.

Ryan carried almost everything up the hill… and then we made another pile next to the house.  Finally we took a load to the dump!  It was fun to throw this crap off the back of the pick up!!!

About two weeks after we bought Uffda and brought the cutest sailboat on Lake Lanier home… Uffda was nearly stripped to the fiberglass.  Just a few more things need to be ripped out.  And then we can start bring Uffda back to life.  Good thing we bought “This Old Boat.”

We’ve been traveling for a couple of weeks and haven’t been giving Uffda any love… but I found some photos I hadn’t published yet.  Ryan evaluated the stove and was able to open a drawer that had been swollen shut!  We find something new about Uffda in each nook and cranny!  Ryan has also hooked up utility lights inside the boat so we have more light during dark winter days!  We can’t wait for spring!
